I love the accounts of historical events, especially the wars that were fought to gain our freedom and the people who fought in them. The books goes back to events leading up to the French and Indian war, The war of 1812 , the Revolution and the civil war that devastated Pendelton County.
So far it is informative and has many ancestors names.
Excellent book to use when working on genealogy in Pendleton County, West Virginia.
I got exactly what I expected with my ancestors being written up in the book!
I bought this book because of references in it to my family's history. It helped me fill in a few gaps and I learned many things about the beginnings of West Virginia. It also gave insite to the Civil War. The print quality was good even though it was a "copy", nothing missing or distorted. I would recommend this book to anyone with family roots in Pendleton County (West) Virginia and anyone interested in the Civil War.
Just what I needed.
Got as a gift for my grandfather who was born and raised in Pendleton County. He was immediately immersed in it. I myself felt that it was difficult to follow and jumped around a lot. Definitely not an easy read! Worked great as a gift for someone who is one of the hardest people to buy for!
